SMDA-2
2 Channel Distribution Amplifier
Description
SMDA-2 Two Channel Distribution Amplifier
The SMDA-2 Two Channel Distribution Amplifier is a versatile interface box designed to distribute a single SM1 series microphone signal or any other line level input to 2 RCA jacks. This amplifier is perfect for sending audio from one microphone to 2 different locations.
Easy Installation and Power Source
The SMDA-2 is specifically designed to be located next to a DVR or IP camera, making installation a breeze. It requires a 120VAC power source within 6 feet of its location. However, if this is not feasible for your application, you can extend the distance between the AC power source and the SMDA-2 by splicing in up to 100 feet of 18 AWG, 2 conductor cable.
Flexible Input and Output Controls
The input to the SMDA-2 can be connected directly to any sound surveillance microphone or any other line level input signal. It is important to note that only one input type should be used at a time, and both inputs should not be used simultaneously. The overall input level is controlled with the master level control, which provides x2 gain for weaker input signals or attenuation for stronger signals. This control allows you to adjust the volume of audio that is fed into each channel output. Additionally, each audio output level can be individually adjusted, making it convenient to match the sensitivity of different “head end” equipment.
Extended Output Connections
The SMDA-2’s outputs are typically connected to the audio inputs of DVRs, IP cameras, and other equipment. You can extend these outputs up to 1000 feet using audio coaxial cable and field installable RCA or 3.5mm connectors. These outputs can also be connected to any ETS base station microphone input by cutting one end off the supplied patch cable, stripping the cable back, and connecting the center conductor of the coax to the “audio” terminal and the shield to the “-” terminal of any microphone input. No connection is needed on the “+” terminal. Overall, the SMDA-2 Two Channel Distribution Amplifier offers a reliable and flexible solution for distributing audio signals to multiple locations. Its easy installation, power source options, and adjustable controls make it a versatile choice for various applications.
