MTDC-2

Two Door Access Control Door Interlock (man trap) Board

Description

The MTDC-2 is a 2-door access control interlock (man trap) board designed to be used with two standalone access control readers, networked access control readers, or in pass-through mode (without readers). The MTDC-2 accepts door contact inputs and lock release inputs from two access control readers and controls the lock release functions and traffic LED states according to the door states and the board’s interlock logic.

The MTDC-2 Two-Door Access Control Board operates through a systematic interaction between access control readers, door contact inputs, and locking mechanisms to effectively regulate building access. At the core of its functionality, the MTDC-2 manages access by controlling the locking and unlocking of entryways, ensuring that only authorized individuals gain entry. The board is designed to interact seamlessly with various access control readers that authenticate user credentials, such as keycards or biometric scans.

When an access attempt is made, the reader transmits the data to the MTDC-2 board. If the credentials are verified successfully, the board activates the locking mechanism of the corresponding door, granting access. Simultaneously, the board reads inputs from the door contacts to determine the status of the doors—ensuring they are closed before allowing further access to the next door in sequence. This dual-lock mechanism is critical in preventing unauthorized entry, as it requires each door to be verified separately before either can be unlocked.

The MTDC-2 board further enhances security through its control of the traffic LED states, which inform personnel of the access status visually. For instance, a green LED may indicate that a door is unlocked and open, while a red LED signifies that it is locked or closed. This visual feedback reinforces the operational workflow and alerts users about the doors’ current states.

Application

  • Data Centers: The MTDC-2 ensures secure access to server rooms by requiring the first door to be closed and locked before the second door can be opened, providing an additional layer of protection for sensitive areas.
  • Pharmaceutical Laboratories: In labs where contamination prevention is crucial, the MTDC-2 manages access to clean rooms by controlling the interlock of entry and exit doors, ensuring only one door is open at a time.
  • Bank Vaults: The MTDC-2 enhances security in banks by controlling access to vaults, ensuring that both inner and outer doors cannot be opened simultaneously, reducing the risk of unauthorized access.
  • Airports: The MTDC-2 manages access to restricted areas in airports, ensuring that secure doors are interlocked to prevent tailgating or piggybacking into sensitive areas.
  • Jewelry Stores: The MTDC-2 is used to control access to high-value areas, such as safes or display rooms, ensuring that only authorized personnel can pass through doors one at a time.
  • Correctional Facilities: The MTDC-2 enhances security by managing interlocking doors between different sections of the facility, ensuring controlled movement of inmates and staff.
  • Research Facilities: In biosecurity labs or high-security research environments, the MTDC-2 prevents unauthorized access to secure areas by controlling two-door access points, ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
  • High-Security Government Buildings: The MTDC-2 is used to regulate entry into classified areas, ensuring that personnel must pass through an interlock system before gaining full access to secure locations.
  • Hospitals: The MTDC-2 manages access to secure areas such as operating theaters or drug storage rooms, controlling door access to ensure that only authorized medical staff can enter.
  • Luxury Residential Buildings: In high-end residential complexes, the MTDC-2 controls access to private elevator lobbies, ensuring that only authorized residents can enter through interlocked doors, adding an extra layer of privacy and security.
